I am so happy.

pic from http://blogged.the-protagonist.net/2006/12/11/mau-marcelo-philippine-idol-cinderella-story/

She really deserves the title.

The day before, performance night, the Mau fans were almost let down (that includes me) by the way she sang her first two songs. The first one, Mariah's Love Takes Time, was so weak. Then, the second (Balut) was none stellar. Maybe because the judges were against her (even Mr. C). They were all praises for Gian and Jan, even though they never shone same as Mau.

They were so biased that night that maybe, just maybe, the people wearing yellow in the Big Dome almost lynched them after they said that the Philippine Idol should be male. The judges were so into this that they put down Mau every which way, and turned deaf to Jan's twice failing of his first two songs Coda (the codas were so bad), or Gian's (very few) wrong notes.

Fortunately, Mau gave her all in her last song: On My Own. It was so heartfelt. She succeded in making almost everyone in the house stand up and clap for her. The judges were dumb-stricken (woohoo!).

She sang it so well that when I listened to the original (by Whitney Houston), I thought that that original was so weak.

The song was enough to convert a lot of people to her side.

So she won.

Again, congratulations, and we will ensure your career's success.

By the way, for past Philippine Idol blog posts, log on to http://geeksings.motime.com

BASTUSAN NA!

Bastusan na! (It's time to ignore each others' rights!)
Last morning, the congress here in the Philippines passed a law to ignore the rules, to twist them to serve their own interests.
Recently, the Gloria administration have been pushing for a Charter Change, a move to revise the constitution of the Philippines.
They are on it in a rush. The Charter Change will involve a change from a democratic form of government to a parliamentary one. Gloria is doing it to gain power. Nearly ousted a couple of times, she plans to try to get the change for her to finish her term until 2010, and to rule on beyond, even forever.
Now what's in it for the congressmen? Well, if the change goes through they will then have prolonged seat periods. Power, still, is the reason.
Why the rush? Come May senatorial elections, these congressmen allied with Gloria will surely be kicked out. They will never be reelected, what with the notorious laws and harassments made by Gloria to suppress the Filipino people. They will lose power. Even Gloria will lose power. If the election results get more opposition candidates, then she may get impeached. And she will.
Is it really reasonable to change the rules to serve their own purpose?
It isn't. It is an outright disrespect to the constitution, to the country that they should have been serving.
Charter Change isn't here yet. Why are these congressmen acting like it is here now?
Like I said, bastusan na!
Gloria's congressmen should watch their backs, for the Filipinos will not be hesitant to take the bastusan seriously.

The Big Nincompoop

Nincompoop is one of my favorite words in the English language, along with twiddlededee and DOJ Secretary Raul Gonzales. They all mean the same thing. They all mean stupid.

You better believe it. He has always given out statements that are hard-hitting. However, anyone could always see that what he said is just so incorrect. These statements then looks funny. On the other hand, they are very illogical.

For example, he said that the University of the Philippines (UP) must not contradict Arroyo’s government because it is the government that is funding the whole university. Think about it for a moment and you will see how illogical this statement is. For one, it is not Arroyo’s government that funds the University, but the people who pay the taxes. Second, the faculty and the students (like me) have free minds, minds that cannot be controlled by one individual or organization. Does he want to have zombies produced in the University?

Apparently, he does want that. On his most recent life-changing statement, he said that the University of the Philippines is the breeding ground for rebels. He followed this up by saying that it is true. Then he said that the UP funds must not be released.

Just what was he driving at? Yes, there are rebels in the University. However, could there be rebels if there is no one to rebel on? Can there be a rebel without a cause?

UP doesn’t solely produce rebels. If it does, then is his master (who took a masteral degree in UP) also a rebel? A rebel for herself?

If we only produce rebels, then their incompetent administration should have crashed altogether long ago. But it didn’t…

Until now. Just more statements like these by the big nincompoop, coupled with more extra-judicial killings and more corruption, will make this happen. Their administration will not only crash, but will lie flat, with no hope for resuscitation.

A Faerie Tale

Once upon a time in a land not so far away, there lived a prince named Mark who was looking for a bride. He gave the page a note, and off she went into the country, announcing to everyone who cared to listen that there will be a royal dance in the palace that night to give way to the search for the next queen.

Every single girl from far and wide cared to hear, and they also cared to heed the announcement. They came to the palace early wearing their best gowns: some trimmed with gold as to outshine the sun, some filled with lace hangings as to imitate the wind, and some filled with all kinds of colors as to resemble the rainbow.

They entered the palace, they with the rich class, and chattered with gaiety, each telling all how their mother got them the dress, where they go every summer, how much each jewel they flaunt costed their extravagant fathers.

The prince just sat at the royal high chair, caring none for the idle chatter. He did not go for extravagance: he hated those who flaunt. He did not believe in everyone’s high airs: he believed they were all just castles in the air. Furthermore, he did not want those who talked too much: he found these talks without meaning.

What he wants for his-bride to be is the exact opposite of these girls that are in his party. He ignored them, and sat still, staring at nothing and fell asleep. Pretty soon, the girls left, with the attitude much the same as the wolf’s attitude to the grapes that he can’t reach.

When all had left, the page approached the prince to wake him up. It was getting to be pretty cold out here in the hall and she thought that the prince might get sick. He touched the prince shoulder and smiled. Serving him was her great pleasure. She was near him; nothing matters.

The prince woke up and saw clarity. He saw this in the eyes of the page, in those blue eyes that tell everything. He realized then he needed no one. Founding a bride was foolish. But this time, the prince did not ask the page to tell those who cared to hear. The page was by his side, she of simple beauty, and preparing for the wedding for them to live happily ever after.

Blog Introduction

Hi!
Actually, this isn't my first blog.
My first blog is in Motime, with the same title.
I changed host when I realized that anyone without a blog in Motime can't comment...
So there.
If you wanna see past posts, visit http://geekcritic.motime.com

edited:
Actually, they can comment but they would appear as "unlogged visitor."
That is what I don't like.
In blogger, I can choose to identify my visitors.

The Pest

Some people think of other people as pests, one that should be taken care of immediately.
One of these people is named Francisco Gerona, 62-year old, a barangay official in Gayagaya, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan.
One Saturday, a mentally-challenged 12-year old named Patrick Vincent Banda climbed to the top of a National Power Corporation transmission tower near his home. He had already done this a number of times since he was five years old and had safely gone down each time. However, that fateful day was his last.
It was 11 am when he climbed up the 150-feet tower. For three hours, his neighbors watched him dance, walk, and balance on top of the tower. The neighbors were delighted, except one.
Francisco Gerona, quite irritated by the boy’s antics, hid behind a van, then took out his gun and shot the boy three times. In slow motion, the neighbors watched as Patrick hung on for dear life, then fell down top hit the ground dead.
Asked why he shot the kid, he answered that he was such a nuisance. He thought that the kid was a pest: a fly to be swatted, a mosquito to be hit.
Is that how he should think about a human life? That if a human life doesn’t serve a meaningful purpose, it ought to be ended?
Francisco Gerona is very feeble-minded. He thinks he’s mentally stable, that his intelligence is high, that he can easily judge whether one needs his life. Like God, he can cut anyone out of the world.
Who’s such a pest then?
P.S. Justice for Patrick!

-->
